wr227 final_memo summer 06

SUBJECT: Peter Gill Case

FROM: Ventura, Ernest [BEB Vice President]

TO: Seitz, Tim [PU 105 Manager]

I will give Peter Gill the option to transfer to a different Planning Unit to maintain a productive working environment on your unit.

Big Eastern Bank Northwest Region currently have three other Planning Units [103, 107, 109] needing at least one Information Technologist.

Ira Pamela Mendoza, the Manager of Planning Unit [PU] 103 had already promoted her stellar Technology Consultant I, Deo de Asis to take the position of Head Technology Consultant.

Rosslin John Robles, one of the two new Technology Consultant trainees [TCTs] of Planning Unit 107 unexpectedly changed his mind & flew to Kobe, Japan for academic pursuits. The other TCT, Ruchelle Veron still cannot continue until her pending immigration status as a US Permanent Resident is approved by the US embassy.

The Manager of Planning Unit 109, Toni Mills must swap her Technology Consultant [TC], Jesse Krause within the next fourteen days due his romantic involvement with her assistant, Monica Baby.

Ira’s decision to promote Engr. De Asis was not a surprise to me at all. Deo’s performance on the development of technology strategies related to the PC/LAN environment as well as his study and recommendation about common system applications are indeed commendable & impressive. He certainly deserved the promotion. His 18-month experience as TC I will make him a great leader for all TCs of PU 103. It is my insight that Ira’s is Peter’s ideal unit to continue working. Until the legal department’s decision regarding his case is finalized, this is the best solution I can think of. I have faith that Deo’s guidance can convert Peter’s stored potential into glory. The chemistry & bonding of them being schoolmates way back at Ventura Institute of Science & Technology might rejuvenate Peter somehow.

Although Peter’s resume shows that he is overqualified for a TCT, I am still willing to make PU 107 an option to him just in case Miss Veron can’t continue and only if Peter is willing. He still has the right to decline & is in no obligation whatsoever to go below his experience level.

As with PU 109, Jesse may still work for BEB but not with Monica Baby, whom he has a romantic connection; This in compliance with BEB Employee’s Code of Discipline [ECD], Romantic Involvement between Employees section [page 37, ECD version 1 or page 46, ECD version 2].

Having all these alternatives elaborated, I ask that you thoughtfully relay all Peter-related contents of this memo to Engr. Gill on or before February 30, BEB’s Foundation Day. It’s important that Peter must get the message with precision & accuracy, brief yet intact & clear. Please do not simply forward this memo. I anticipate that you’d be surprise why I am not sending Peter a carbon copy [cc] of this memo & why I’m asking to communicate my thoughts to him through you. Tim, I am assigning you this simple task for a good reason.

I reviewed the series of memos that Gill’s lawyer, Atty. Rita Avila is using against BEB last Tuesday. As you know, it was your own writing that justifies Peter’s charges against the bank. I do not have the final say on Peter’s future with BEB but the evidence his party holds gives him a good chance of retaining his employment. I will let the legal department sort out the case but BEB cannot afford to let this kind incident happen again. Regardless of the outcome of this contest, our company is spending time, money & effort inefficiently.

To help avoid the occurrence of the same situation again in the future, I am including the attached General Guidelines for Letters & Memos along with Specific Guidelines for Negative Letters. [All PU Managers here in the northwest region will receive these guidelines.] In addition will be some recommendations for improvement. Furthermore, I feel the necessity to refer to the memos you previously wrote especially the ones to Peter to complement my recommendations for them to be effective.

Before I end, in behalf of our President, Japs Sergio, I would like to say congratulations to the management & employees of PU 105 for being 7th placer in the Northwest Region Performance Evaluation last month. Despite these things that are going on, you have shown commendable output as a team. Keep up the good work!

PS. Recent Update: An email I received from Toshio Draculan of PU 107 just this afternoon informs that Ruchelle’s green card is on its way. We’re good!
